A contemporary music day open to all students in grades 6-12 will be 9 a.m.-8 p.m. April 20 at Northern Vermont University-Johnson.

The free event is hosted by the NVU Performing Arts Department and Admissions Office. Students will attend workshops on composition and creativity and compose a short work of music that they’ll hear rehearsed and performed by NVU faculty.

As part of the contemporary music event, TURNmusic, a contemporary chamber music ensemble based in Vermont and conducted by Anne Decker, will perform at 7:30 p.m. that night at Stearns Performance Space on campus. The concert is free for the public.
