JOHNSTON, VT – The documentary The Act of Killing will be screened at 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, in 207 Bentley Hall at Johnson State College.

In this chilling and inventive documentary, filmmaker Joshua Oppenheimer examines Indonesia, a country where death squad leaders are celebrated as heroes, challenging them to re-enact their real-life mass killings in the style of the American movies they love. The hallucinatory result is a cinematic fever dream, an unsettling journey deep into the imaginations of mass murderers and the shockingly banal regime of corruption and impunity they inhabit.

The screening is free and open to the public.
